New on M-Net this March:

NEW SERIES

Samantha Who?
Premiere date: Wednesday 5 March at 19h00

sam

Christina Applegate (Kelly Bundy from Married With Children) plays Samantha Newly, a young woman who suffers from retrograde amnesia after a hit-and-run incident. She has no recollection of her life before the accident but soon learns that she was mean, vain, selfish and heartless and had many enemies. Who knows, the “accident” could even have been an attempted murder …

As Samantha begins the long, comic process of starting over, she fears that the “old Sam” will return or her would-be killer will try again. She tries to re-invent herself through making good, positive choices - even though the bad ones are so much easier (and way more fun).

Samantha Who? won the 2008 People’s Choice Award for Favourite New Television Comedy. Christina Applegate also received a Golden Globe nomination and Screen Actors Guild Nomination for her performance.

Ella Blue (Original M-Net Series)

Directed by Darrell Roodt, who received international acclaim for movies such as Yesterday and Sarafina, this mini-series is a tender love story set in the year 1961, a time when a small fishing community was torn apart as a result of race classification and the Group Areas Act of 1950.

Ella Blue forms part of a series of dramatic mini-series, commissioned by M-Net, to tell our own stories on South African television.

Ella Blue stars Nathalie Boltt in the title role, as well as Tertius Meintjes, Jonathan Rands, Bo Peterson and Nico Panagio. It also marks the screen debut of Nina Milner.

Life
Premiere date: 27 March at 19h30

life

9 episodes of Private Practice were completed before the writer’s strike started in America. While M-Net is waiting for new episodes of the show, the new drama series Life takes over.

Life is about an offbeat cop who is given a second chance.  A year ago detective Charlie Crews (Damian Lewis) was sent to jail for a crime he didn’t commit.

After his release a good friend and attorney, Constance Giffiths (Brooke Langton) helps him to return to the force. Alongside his partner Dani Reese (Sarah Shahi) he does whatever is necessary to solve crimes and in between the action, he tries to find out who framed him for the triple homicide.

RETURNING SERIES

Dexter 2
Premiere date: Sunday 2 March at 22h00

Orphaned at the age of four and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter is adopted by a police officer who recognizes his homicidal tendencies and guides his son to channel his gruesome passion for human vivisection in a constructive way - by killing those heinous perpetrators who are above the law or who have slipped through the cracks of justice.

My Name is Earl 3
Premiere date: Monday 17 March at 19h00

Earl's back for a third season of karmic retribution and spends his time in prison. He confesses to a crime that he did not commit so that that his ex-wife Joy doesn’t go to jail, while his brother, Randy, struggles to survive without his brother. Will Earl be released or will he and his friends plan a prison break?

-----
Ugly Betty 2
Premiere date: 25 March at 19h30

Ugly Betty's back. Her return was planned for later this year, but because Pushing Daisies was affected by the writer’s strike, the show makes it return early.
