Farewell Shaun Pollock

I had to write this article out of respect to The Great Shaun Pollock. This weekend we witnessed his send-off at a capacity Wanderers. he walked into the pitch ahead of everybody to salute the crowd for the last time, you could have heard the cheering!! it could not get better when his first over was a maiden over, leading him to finish at 1/33 after 10overs. Every body in the team congratulated him for  brilliant carrer. His is the all-time leading wicket taker for SA, and when we were chasing he was the one who scored the winning runs as he did in Durbs, after that he did a parade around the stadium before walking to his teammates who were all emtional.
- i will remember him as the bowler who always kept things tight with his accurate bowling with the new ball, a batsmen who could win us games at the death even when the odds were against us.

The Placards displayed yesterday

  - Only Polly can stop load shedding
  - Polly Bafana need you
  - Polly for president
  - Marry me Polly

- we have to salute the heroes of SA and pollock is definatly one of them, having served his nation with pride for 12years.

WELL DONE POLLY.

>>Madenza has pollock only stepped down from playing internationally or has he stepped down completely??<<

I'm not Madenza, but I can answer this.  Pollock will still be playing cricket, but has retired from international cricket.

I guess every player has to retire at some point or another, but it's always sad to see them go, particularly someone like Pollock who has been such a great performer over the years.  He's definitely one of the all-time greats, not just of South African cricket, but of world cricket.

shame, i'm not a sports fan at all, but i can attest to the fact that he's such a gentleman - did a job once that involved him as a sporting ambassador, and he was sweet sweet sweet,  he availed himself the whole time (unlike other 'stars') , didn't make a fuss about things- just delivered, and with a smile nogal.  a real sweetheart.
