The dictionary defines a pet as “something you make a fuss of”, “something you spoil or pamper”. A pet name is a name a loved one gives you, a special name only they use to refer to you. Babes, larvh, sweets, Sugarplum, Potsonono, ma larvh etc are the common ones.
I don’t know about you, but I hate being called mabhebheza (no offence to the blogger), especially if its some random dude on the street. But I don’t mind if they call me my sista , maybe it’s the connotation attached to it.
I had a bf who used to call me Sthuthuthu (motorbike), at the time I didn’t think much of it, but lately I’ve been thinking, that clearly this guy saw me as something he can ride…hai*shaking my head*
I’ve heard people say men sometimes use pet names to call their girls because they don’t want to call out the wrong name, is that true? So what pet names have you been called? Did you like it? What are you being called now? Do you call your person something different to his face than you call him to your friends?
