Hi Peeps
Its true that Durban was abuzz with music this past weekend. I mean Mary J. Blige, Enrique Iglesias, Michael Smith and last but not least the BOKS GAME (CONGRATS GUYS YOU MADE US PROUD).
The concert that i was looking forward to was Enrique's though, not that I'm not a Hip Hop fan or Mary's fan but because this guy's music just bowls me over. Its so romantic and i dont know but I always seem to see reality of love in music only when they are sung by a white guy (no offense). Maybe this is caused by the fact that I have met a lot of "black" guys who have toyed and played with love that i find it very hard to think that there are black guys who understands what love really is. I know there are honest guys out there but i just havent met them.
Anyhow Enrique was perfoming at the ICC Arena in Durban. I arrived an hour late, the show was suppose to start at 6:30 but my photographer and I arrived at 7:20 at the arena. The first face we saw was of the PRO of Big Concerts telling us that we are late and we wont be able to take Enrique's pictures . Damn we gave her hell, what's the point in covering an event without taking picture dah?
So we got out way (like we always do) and i got my seat in the front. Enrique was already singing his song Hero when we arrived which Im sure most people know even if they are not his fan.
I didnt get a chance to come face to face with the guy because everything was rushed up so that there will be a chance for people to catch the Boks game. I was really disappointed by the fact that Enrique cannot dance. He can sing, he has stage presence, he is sooo handsome and have the bod but he just cannot move... on top of it he didnt even have dancers on the stage with him. I dont know but i always expect the kind of shows that i normally see on tv where stars perfom in different outfits for every song they do on stage. The likes of Britney Spears, Beyonce Knowles, Christina Agulera etc always have this stage perfomance that glues you to their perfomances but one just never sees them here???I wonder why.
Anyhow i was probably the only black face there, (im sure i was the ony black face at the PP SUITE) and i was jumping up and singing and dancing along Enrique's songs and people next to me (whites and indians) were staring at me like i was crazy. And i thought "hell whats the use of coming to a concert if you dont shout and scream and dance ".
The show was over as quickly as it began and everyone was in a hurry to watch the Boks match that a stampede almost occured. Overall Enrique is the best and he did not disappoint, i would not mind to have him back again and this time not when Boks are playing so that he can do all his songs and for once have a couple of other artist with him to give us fans a variety to enjoy even more.
