Ola maBLOGGERS, today being a TUESDAY and its HALF PRICE at the MOVIES, I checked out the Ster Kinekor and Nu Metro Website to check whats on circuit. Seeing that nothing interested me, I remembered one of the few movies that I have seen this year that was so good and still lingers in my mind is, Mel Gibson’s APOCALYPTO. I’m thinking of renting it out again and check it out.

upload

I am not sure what it is about the movie but damn what a movie. Is it the STORYLINE, THE CAST, THE ART DIRECTION, THE PHOTOGRAPHY, COSTUMES and VISUAL EFFECTS? Definitely a combination of everything. Not a single word uttered in English, the film uses English subtitles, and the dialogue is in some language Yucatec Maya. This film is simply VERY GRIPPING and as far as SUSPENSE the movie is a PURE ADRENALIN RUSH in all its 2 hours and 10 minutes. Mel Gibson is not your conventional filmmaker. He does tend to tackle controversial topics in his movies but I will leave that to the purists and critics. For GRIPPING ENTERTAINMENT and FUN, rent out this movie and watch it. The stuff that he brings to the screen is exciting and controversial as seen in his other movies BRAVEHEART and PASSION OF THE CHRIST. Mel Gibson is a PURE GENIUS at what he does. For me this is one if not the BEST MOVIE I have seen in a long while.

Brave
BRAVEHEART

Any of the Bloggers seen this movie (Mel Gibson's APOCALYPTO) and your thoughts on the movie?

Enjoy your Tuesday at the movies, for those who indulge.

OMG thanks Sdadakimswa for the article...I actually watched the movie Apocalypto this past Sunday and its quite cool. The movie is not in English but has subtittles that u read during the whole movie...that may sound boring but damn the movie is great. Its horrifying to see how those people were treated but likewise the movie rocked..
When I saw Mel Gibson I thought he was in there only to find out he was the director...I definately recommend bloggers to go and get it...! It is soo cool!

Not a single word uttered in English.....

I am a movie fanatic! So when I saw a blog about movies, I could not resist reading.  That was until I saw the sentence above! Subtitles are my ultimate movie  turn-off. But  I had the priviledge of watching this movie during the weekend and WOW! is the first word that comes to mind. I was hooked from beginning to end (maybe this also had something to to with subtitles, u miss a sentence, u'r fucked *forgot the movie phrase even though I memorised it*)

I was particularly not impressed by men running around with their arses everywhere though (I do appreciate male beauty but dyamn)...

And then there were the killings, horrible but passionate, the acting was convincing and the nature of the setup (forest)  beautiful...

Fear: The main highlight (lack of a better word)  of the movie *me thinks*. Fear can make people respond to shity situations irrationally. Sometimes even resulting in death...

The end: One of the main characters, Jaguar AKA Almost, and his wife/gal/vat-en-sit/not sure, together with their 2 kids are looking at the sea tse di nang le dikepe. She wants to go out there and discover the world, but Almost wants to go back to the forest and start afresh.
My movie companion, out loud, says abafazi bathanda izinto...
Right there, Apocalypto added to my *why predictable endings* films... Yes, she wanted to go out there and explore the world, maybe wear amaJack Pussles/AllStar, levi' jeans and bras,  with him ka dipink shirts $ ties but no, they went back to the forest and have their arses hang out, always...tl

But a breath taking movie this is...gruesome killings and all! Different in a fascinating way. Brilliant acting *****
