On 3rd degree this week:

Episode Title:
A criminal justice system in crisis.
Broadcast date: Tuesday 9 October 2007

When Jackie Selebi’s alleged links with the criminal underworld were first exposed no investigation was launched by government into whether or not he is fit for office. But the presidency has instead suspended and ordered a probe into the man who was investigating him, Vusi Pikoli.

Is President Mbeki protecting Selebi and why? Can South Africans still have faith in a criminal justice system that appears riddled with politics?

And how much does all of this have to do with the ANC’s succession battle?

In this week’s episode 3rd Degree searches for answers to a fiercely contested South African issue.

I AM AFRAID TO SAY THAT SINCE THERE HAS BEEN A BLACK GOVERMENT THE WHOLE JUSTICE SYSTEM HAS FALLEN APART. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY WHITE POLICEMEN LEAVING THE FORCE AND MAY I SAY THAT THERE ARE THE GOOD ONES WHO HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT. I SAY BRING BACK MORE WHITE POLICEMEN AND START INVESTIGATING THE PEOPLE IN THE HIGHER POSITIONS AND HOW THEY GOT THERE, I AM SURE YOU WILL BE IN FOR A SURPRIZE.
