SCD 3x02: Lesley Is The First Casualty

Proving that your face needs to be in the public eye for you to be considered a true celebrity, the first person axed from Strictly Come Dancing 3 was Sunday Times journalist Lesley Mofokeng, along with his pro dance partner Sara Els.

Even though the pair didn't do as badly in the first episode, coming second last, clearly nobody voted for them as nobody knows who Lesley is.

His readers no doubt know who he is but you need a public face, bra. Get on Noeleen or something, or better yet - leave your budding reality TV career alone and concentrate on trashing Sandy Ngema in the Times instead, okay?

Here's the recap of the second episode:

Last week Lesley and Sara were in second last position, but the judges warmed up to them this week. They danced the Rumba to "Cry" sung by Brandon October and Nonhlanhla Mdluli, and garnered positive comments from the judges.

Tyrone commented: "Your relationship brought intensity to the Rumba!" He scored Lesley and Sarah his first seven of the evening.

But it was not enough to save them. "We didn't expect an early exit. But we enjoyed it," said Lesley.

HHP and Hayley outdid themselves again with a raunchy Tango danced to "Maneater". The audience cheered and the judges' comments remained favourable. They are, again, in the lead with the judges' votes - two sevens and two eights.

Quintus, Candice's partner, dedicated their Rumba to his father (as Candice dedicated their first dance to her grandmother).

They danced to "Dance with my Father" and Salome inanely blurted out "That was woman!" Uh, yeah, Salome. Tyrone scored them his last seven of the evening.

Erald and Mary had some relationship issues. Mary looked fabulous in a yellow and black Spanish inspired dress. They danced to "Dance with me".

"A huge difference! Much better!" Tyrone commented and scored them a six.

Lieschen, who dressed as an African princess, and Ryan once again did not impress the judges. Clearly it takes more than a magical set of expensive breasts to be a good ballroom dancer.

The judges fussed mostly about Lieschen's legs, but Tyrone commented that they danced very well before scoring them his only four of the evening.

Patricia and Marcel danced to "Una Musica Brutal". The judges thought the song was too slow and that their dancing was a little "antiseptic." The only score above six came from Lilian, who scored them a seven.

Tyrone loved Hezekiel and Lindsey. He called them "The dark horse of the competition," which someone on TVSA called them last week. Nice to know Tyrone's reading. Hi Tyrone! *wave*

The audience loved Hezekiel's Rumba, which was danced to "Love Story (Where do I belong)". Dave scored them an eight.

Thembisile and Thabo's Tango, garnered them praise. "It was a very Argentinean Tango!" said Dave.

They danced to "Santa Maria" and Salome scored them an eight after Ian, in yet another failed attempt at comedy, squirted out "Please give them Argentinean marks."

The voting this week counts to the elimination next week, meaning you have the entire week until the end of episode 3 to vote for your favourite couple.

Send an sms to 34766 at R2/sms or by phoning 083 913 4766.

The couple with the least votes are announced in the results show at 21h30 (the same evening), after which they perform their last dance and bow out of the competition.
