SAMA 2007

Yes Yes My Peoples it's that time of the year when we get to say dankie to all the wonderful, some very abusive towards our ears, artists who have worked hard throughout 2006 to keep us entertained and dancing. The South African Music Awards are back and I am over the moon!!

The nominees for the 13th Annual MTN SA Music Awards were announced at the Design Quarter last night and yeah, I had never been around so many musicians before...

I don't know half the names on that nominees list and without going into much detail, I personally feel that this year's winners are gonna be a lot of no name brands that nobody knows about.

Them being no-name brands does not take anything away from the fact that they are talented and good musicians and perhaps it is a good thing that so many unknowns are finally recognized, instead of big name brands who produce crap but get nominated each year.

Ooh, even King Arthur is nominated for that compilation of his...shame, they must please give him the award so he can shut the hell up.

Eish, sorry I'm being nasty and you know I ain't like that, neh?

Mabalane

Ok, what caught my eyes is the fact that Kabelo Mabalane is hosting the show? The awards are taking place on 14 April 2007 and SABC 1 will be broadcasting them live from Sun City Superbowl.

I have mixed feelings about Rambo as the host. I like the guy but I have always seen him as a cold person and a host needs to be warm so as to draw viewers but I don't know, maybe they saw something in him that I don't.

On the other hand, I am happy that they have trusted him enough to give him such a huge ask and it is definitely something to look foward to, unlike what it would have been like had they chosen, for example, Andile Ncube. (He really didn't do it for me as the host at the Nominee Announcement event)

It is always great to see new faces on our screens so my request to the organizers is :
Don't bring us any of the people we've seen in previous years...get us fresh blood.

Check out Blogiwood on Monday and I'll be bringing you all the gossip and pictures of what went down at the 13th Annual MTN SAMA's Nominee Announcement. Like I said, I got you covered.

So what do you think of Kabelo as the host? You digg??
