Episode 12: Answers

First: Bransens (they ended up on the first charter flight)

Last: Weavers (even if they get off their ass, they'll end up on the last charter flight)

RBers: Beth, Alex, Rolly

Bonus Questions:

1. Who says, "Who's the Judas at this table?"? Answer: Wally [13/3 for any Bransen]

2. Who says to a taxi driver, "Are you fast? … El fasto?"? Answer: Rolly (someone needs to smack some sense into that kid) [12/3 for any Weaver]

3. Who says, "I'm going to build a curling rink in [my hometown]"? Answer: Alex [13/3 for any Linz]

4. Who says the first line in the "andale" dialogue? Answer: Alex (again!) [12/3 for any Linz]

5. Who suggests that in order to find something built in 1967, they should ask "old people," because they "were around at the time"? Answer: Megan (doh!) [12/3 for any Linz]

6. Who says, "Rolly is so weird. He can do anything!"? Answer: Linda (that's right—his own mother called him "weird") [13/3 for any Weaver]

7. Who says while trying to find the entrance to a building, "We should always take the left.  Because the right's the most common.  The left is always the way we should take." Answer: Linda (again) [12/3 for any Weaver]

8. Who says, "I'm going to have a smokin' ass after this night, stair-stepping all night long"? Answer: Beth [13/3 for any Bransen]

Delayed Bonus Episode Tallies:

clues: 7 (PS to Underground City, to Detour Location, to American Pavilion, to RB, RB clue, to and into Stade Olympique, "search for charter flight times" clue)

rides: 9 (drive to Billings airport, 2 flights to Montreal*, cab to UC, cab to Detour location, cab to AP, cab to RB, cab to SO, golf carts into stadium)

**miles: 1802 (60 to Billings, 1673 to Montreal, 13 to UC train station, 22 to Detour location, 26 miles to American Pavilion, 6 miles to industrial park, 2 miles to Stade Olympique)

Notes:

*Although two of the teams took three planes to Montreal, I'm counting this as only two rides, the minimum necessary.

**I'm assuming that the teams flew into Dorval International Airport in Montreal (YUL).  "1673" is the direct (great-circle) distance between the Billings, Montana airport (BIL) and YUL according to MileMaven.com.  Of course, the distances will be a little different (+/-20 miles) if they flew into another airport, and up to 75 miles may need to be added if we consider the teams' connections in Minneapolis and Toronto (I wasn't particularly clear about this in the question, although Phil's estimate of "almost 1700 miles" probably refers to the direct distance between Billings and Montreal).  There is also a slight difference in the mileages between the two Detour locations (about 2 miles).  All land distances not supplied by Phil were calculated using www.randmcnally.com.

As it turns out, though, given the distribution of last week's guesses, I'm confident these differences wouldn't have any impact on the scores that will be awarded next week.  (But if you believe that this week's mileage should be less than 1679 or more than 1921, send us an email (fingolfin at tvsa dot co dot za) to argue your case.)
