Season 4
100% Youth is a South African factual documentary series that profiles young South Africans involved in non-mainstream art forms, delving into their backgrounds and how they came to pursue the art form they have chosen.
The majority of South Africa's youth follow populist cultures but there are those who stand out, are grounded and comfortable in non-mainstream cultures and art-forms - the ones who choose the route less travelled.
These youth are not weird - they are independent, have a sense of free thinking and confidence and are 100% youth.
These young people are confident, talented and have conviction in their choice of the less chosen, less popular art forms. They don't crump, beatbox or twerk, but they are just as captivating and relevant.
Each episode shares the person's background and investigates how they found the art form and developed their relationship with it.
100% Youth is produced for SABC Education by Tshedza Media, with executive producer Milly Takalani Mulaudzi. The theme music is by DJ Phash feat. Zimkitha Gebeda.
Broadcast Notes
There are 26 episodes in Season 4. After 20 episodes the season went on hiatus (from 27 October, 2016), returning for a further two episodes in January 2017. The series resumed with Episode 22 on Thursday 10 August, 2017.
