Gotham is an American superhero crime drama television series created by Bruno Heller and based on characters appearing in and published by DC Comics, which tells the origin story behind Commissioner James Gordon's rise to prominence in Gotham City in the years before Batman's arrival, as well as those of several Batman villains including Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Joker, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Hugo Strange, Harvey Dent and Mr. Freeze.

In the first episode of Season 3, "Mad City: Better to Reign in Hell...": Gordon works in a monster-ridden Gotham as a bounty hunter and seeks to find answers about the Indian Hill escapees, and why their powers appear to be killing them.
Meanwhile, Bruce's doppelganger roams the streets, and Barbara and Tabitha open a new nightclub called The Sirens.
Season 3 stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman and Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the future Riddler, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean and Michael Chiklis as Detective Nathaniel Barnes.
New to the starring cast this season are Maggie Geha as Ivy "Pamela" Pepper (Poison Ivy) and Benedict Samuel as talented hypnotist Jervis Tetch.
Gotham is based upon characters published by DC Entertainment and is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Executive producer Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) wrote the pilot, which was directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon (the CSI franchise, Nikita).
