Season 1
Turn Up and Dance is a South African dance reality competition series in which street dancers battle each other to impress the host, Chomee, resident judge, Dr Malinga as well as the studio audience for the chance to win a cash prize.
Each week five dancers showcase their unique dance moves and stand a chance to win the title of South Africa's Hotstepper plus a cash prize. Once crowned the Hotstepper, the dancer gets a chance to defend the title for as long as they can hold on to it, week after week.
The five dancers battle it out in three elimination rounds. The in-studio audience has the power to influence who gets eliminated from the dance floor and the final decision is made by Chomee and Dr Malinga.
In the second round, the resident judge Dr Malinga demonstrates a dance move which the remaining contestants must incorporate into their freestyle routine.
Viewers can send videos of themselves dancing via the Turn Up and Dance social media platforms, which are shared at the end of the show.
