Season 1

Shikisha is a South African television game show which gives participants an opportunity to showcase their singing talents whilst participating in different nostalgic indigenous games such as "bhati", "mgusha", "skipping" and "skotch".

Launched during heritage month, the show was designed to celebrate the unique South African spirit by showcasing the fun indigenous games which have formed a huge part of many people's childhood.

In addition, the hope is that great singing talents will also be unearthed.

Former Craz-e presenter Morena Sefatsa and former Gumba Gumba presenter Ntombi Mzolo are the show's hosts, who put the contestants through their paces while creating a fun atmosphere.

In each episode, four contestants are given an opportunity to showcase their singing abilities while performing an indigenous game. The games, which are introduced as a curve ball to assess the contestants' multi-tasking skills, are allocated into each of the three rounds of the show.

The contestants must go through at least six challenges without interrupting their singing and they gain points during each challenge or game.

After each episode, the ultimate winner walks away with a R3,000 cash prize.

Thabo Mphelo Films hosted nationwide open auditions for prospective contestants. Contestants are between the ages of 16-35 and were required to have singing abilities.

Shikisha is executive produced by Thabo Mphelo from Thabo Mpelo Films & TV Productions and the director is Eric Mogale.
