Chris Rock: Bigger And Blacker is an American television comedy special directed by Keith Truesdell and starring comedian Chris Rock in a solo standup performance which was taped in front of a live audience at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York City, in 1999.

It aired in the USA on HBO in 1999. It is 65 minutes long.

The special originally aired in South Africa on M-Net on Sunday 13 August 2006, after the 8pm movie. It later aired on TopTV's Fox FX and Fox Entertainment channels and on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Synopsis

The show features Rock's unique take on social, political and racial issues, and covers a wide range of typical Rock topics like gun control, President Bill Clinton, homophobia, racism, black leaders and relationships.

Other subjects include white schoolchildren on shooting sprees, gays in the military and a plea for black people to get social security at 29 because they rarely survive to 65 ('We don't live that long - hypertension, high blood pressure, NYPD, something'll get ya').

The special won the American TV Award in 2000 for Funniest Male Performer in a TV Special (Leading or Supporting) Network, Cable or Syndication - Chris Rock.

It was nominated for six Emmys, an Image award and a TV Guide award in 2001.
