Season 1
Bar One Manhunt is an advertiser-funded South African reality competition television series produced by Rapid Blue in which each week contestants participate in elimination challenges and are voted off via different means, until one winner remains who claims a variety of prizes and the title of Bar One Man.
The series premiered on SABC3 on Wednesday 6 January 2010, at 20h31. It moved to SABC1 for Season 3. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 1 aired on SABC3 from 6 January to 31 March, 2010, on Wednesdays at 20h31. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 episodes in the first season.
Season 1
The South African Bar One Manhunt reality TV series is a search for the most rugged man; a man of integrity and character who has the energy and resilience to live up to life's expectations; someone who lives, works and plays 25/7.
Men who live life to the full, are in great physical shape, have a wicked sense of humour, can think on their feet and have the ability to communicate well are invited to enter as the show searches for men who do not shy away from challenges, who live full and active lives yet are also stylish, sophisticated and able to demonstrate their softer sides.
To win this competition, the Bar One Man has to prove that he has the strength, endurance and resolve to face full-frontal challenges to overcome stiff competition for a grand prize valued at over R1-million and the honour of becoming the next Bar One Man.
Johannesburg-based salesman, Clint de Beer (34) beat his fellow contestants to become the first Bar One Man in 2010. To achieve this feat, he had to climb Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, he skydived, made his own action movie, went off-roading, raced camels in Dubai, jumped into thin air above the Victoria Falls and went white-water rafting, among many other adventures.
He also had the opportunity to display his more gentlemanly side, by hosting his own cocktail party and helped to renovate a home for children with special needs, alongside the other 13 contenders.
The Bar One Manhunt reality TV series is open to all those who think they are cut out for it but have never had an opportunity to prove it before. This competition showcases everyday heroes.
The series is executive produced by Duncan Irvine, Kee-Leen Irvine and Ed Worster. Glenn Elliott is the series producer and Johan Naude the series director.
