Season 1

Confessions to Moruti wa Tsotsi is a South African comedy-drama television series based on original story concept by Senyaka Kekana and Phil Hollis, written by Chris Dresser and produced by Indoscapes Film Productions in which each week wrongdoers go to the church of pastor Moruti Senyaka to confess their crimes and seek solutions to their problems.

The series originally aired on Mzansi Magic from 13 March to 10 April, 2013, on Wednesdays at 19h00. It later aired on Mzansi Wethu. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Confessions to Moruti wa Tsotsi premiered on Mzansi Wethu on Wednesday 17 July 2013, at 21h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are five hour-long episodes in one season.

Synopsis

Each week wrongdoers go to the church of pastor Moruti Senyaka to confess their crimes and seek solutions to their problems - and sometimes even get forgiveness.

The penance and advice doled out by the good pastor often leads to hilarious results.

Confessions to Moruti wa Tsotsi was executive produced by Senyaka Kekana and Phil Hollis and directed by Hollis. The theme song, "Ke a boka", is sung by Marc Rantseli.

Episode 1: The Referee is Offside

Thabo, a soccer referee confesses that when his wife left him, he got very drunk before an important soccer match and completely lost control of the game. He wants to be re-instated as a referee as well as escape the clutches of a gangster who fixes matches.

Episode 2: Winning Ticket Loser

Dube comes to Moruti Senyaka's church to confess that he has stolen his aunt's winning Lotto ticket. Everything has gone wrong since then, including his attempts to become Kwaito singer. He wants to set his misdeeds right.

Episode 3: Confessions of a Pastor

Pastor Pat Shenge confesses to Senyaka that he tried to kill his wife's alleged lover and failed over and over. Now he has discovered that she wasn't faithful after all. He seeks forgiveness from his intended victim and his wife.

Episode 4: On the Wrong Road

Eddie and his friends form a "Blue Light Gang" to rob tourists. When this fails they set up bogus road blocks and run foul of a big time gangster Bonecrusher Ngobeni. Eddie has had enough of crime and wants to go straight.

Episode 5: Lobola Surprise

Dumisani, a prosperous Sandton businessman, pays Lobola and marries a beautiful village girl. She is led astray by his jealous ex-girlfriend. He divorces her and her traditional father insists on returning the Lobola with hysterical results.
