Andrew Barnes, who co-hosts Newsday on e.tv and eNCA, has resigned to start a business in Cambodia.

He's been with e for 15 years and has this say about his experiences and future plans:

"It's been an incredible journey here at e, I have been able to realise my childhood dream of anchoring TV news and reporting from places like Washington DC, New York and London.  Those opportunities followed several rewarding years in news management.”

After 23 years in broadcasting, I leave South Africa with my partner to start a new life in my favourite corner of the world, south-east Asia.  I'll be putting the years of experience I've gained in training and development to launch my own business in Cambodia.  While Brandon and I shall miss this country, we're excited that the time has come to spread our wings."

------

The news comes two months after Andrew was embroiled in an on-air controversy after he was accused of mocking Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga’s pronunciation of the word “epitome”. Click here for the full story.

He was taken off-air and went through an eNCA disciplinary process but there was never any clarity from the channel as to what the disciplinary action was. He returned to air and now two months later he's resigned.

All the best to Abdrew Barnes. I likes his cool, calm and collected way of reading the news. I didn't know that he is gay, you learn something new everyday.
