Trevor Noah's Daily Show debut to air on Compact too - but not on Family etc.

It's almost time for Trevor Noah's much anticipated debut as the host of The Daily Show.

The show premieres in the US on Monday, 28 September and starts here on Tuesday, the 29th. It's going to air Tuesdays to Fridays at 21h00.

Comedy Central, DStv and the show have released a joint statement announcing that Comedy Central will be opening up to Compact viewers for the show's first week on air - which is positive on one hand but also sucks on another.

I'm very iffy about DStv's whole marketing thing of "opening up" channels for short bursts of time because it reminds me of the terrible TV competitions where you win the use of a car that you have to give back instead of winning the car itself.

I don't like the idea of having to give something back once I have it - there's no point in having it if you have to give it back!

I understand it happening now because Trevor's debut is a big occassion but then all DStv subscribers should be included. The official statement says that Comedy Central's opening up to Compact viewers to "celebrate the TV milestone" but its not a proper celebration if some subscribers are excluded from it.

The channel should have been opened to all DStv bouquets so everyone could watch together.
