Bio

Pierre Malherbe is a South African actor and comedian best known for his recurring role as forensic pathologist Roy Davids in the eKasi+ and e.tv detective drama series Traffic!.

He also played the role of John Ford in the SABC2 mini-series Land of Thirst, from January to February 2008.

Malherbe graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1993 with a Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama and has since worked in theatre, film and television.

He toured schools extensively in the early nineties for PACT (Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal) and CAPAB (Cape Provincial Arts Board), dramatizing matric setworks.

He has acted in numerous stage plays including Beautiful Thing, Best Of British, Cinderella, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Judas Kiss, The Graduate, Under The Oaks, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Wife, Noises Off and Sunshine Up Ahead.

He also performs stand up comedy, most recently as a support slot for Mel Miller.

He began his comedy career in 1994 as one third of the Bison Brothers comedy trio who had a radio show of original material and toured a stage play called Best of British, in which they performed some of their favourite British sketches.

Their last outing was in 2000, with The Bison Brother’s Rolling Omnibus, a short film of sketches which they wrote, directed, produced and acted in.

It was in this short film that an early version of his best known stand-up comedy character Duncan Farenheit was first seen, which led to his creation of two one-man stage shows: Duncan Farenheit's Acoustic Jam Sandwich and Duncan Farenheit and the Lank Tired Okes, which aired at the Intimate and Kalk Bay theatres in Cape Town, as well as the Knysna Playhouse (December 2007).

He played the same role at the Comedy All-Stars event at the Armchair Theatre in Observatory, Cape Town, in 2004.

He has made guest appearances in numerous television series including the e.tv sitcoms Madam and Eve, SOS, Scoop Scoombie and Fishy Feshuns; and the SABC2 police drama series Interrogation Room.

He also played the recurring role of Henk Keppel sr. in the Dutch drama series Stellenbosch, which aired in the Netherlands from 4 October to 16 December, 2007.

He also acted in the made-for-TV movie 12 Days of Terror (2004), playing a reporter.

In 2008 Malherbe appeared in the historical romance mini-series Land of Thirst, which aired on SABC2 from January to February. It was his first main credited cast role in television.

In 2014 he had a recurring role as forensic pathologist Roy Davids in the eKasi+ and e.tv detective drama series Traffic!.

He has subsequently had roles in a nubmer of television series including Black Sails, Dominion, Roots, Madiba and Troy: Fall of a City.

He is married, plays guitar and lives in Cape Town.
