WTF?! DStv issues e-mail and on-screen message to subscribers stating we may lose 12 more channels at the beginning of January because of an unsigned deal with Warner Bros Discovery - making their problem our problem. We presume this would mean a radical decrease in our subscription fees if we start the year with 16 fewer channels in total. See comments for the full message. >>

Crazy, mind bending times ...

Why'd they send this out now? Why not wait until January and ensure they had something to offer to make up for it?

The channels impacted are:

Discovery Channel
TLC
Discovery Family
TNT Africa
Real Time
Discovery ID
Food Network
HGTV
Travel Channel
Cartoon Network
Cartoonito
CNN International

This is the e-mail.. which we didn't even get as subscribers - we had to ask for it:

Dear valued customer,

At MultiChoice, our priority is to provide you with the best entertainment experience at the best possible pricing. Every time you subscribe, you trust us with your money, and we take that responsibility seriously.

The distribution agreement between MultiChoice and Warner Bros. Discovery is scheduled to end on 31 December 2025. While discussions between the parties continue, no agreement has been reached at this stage. If this remains unchanged, a number of Warner Bros. Discovery channels may no longer be available on DStv from 1 January 2026.

What matters most is ensuring that your viewing experience remains rich, diverse, and enjoyable.

Our platforms already carry a wide range of local and international sport, entertainment, news, kids, lifestyle and documentary content - and we are preparing to further strengthen and enrich our line-up in 2026 with new content, channels and services.

You will continue to enjoy an exceptional entertainment experience across your package, supported by strong alternative channels across every genre.

For any queries, please contact our customer care team or visit our website.

Thank you for your continued support. We care deeply about delivering the best value for you and your family.

Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
The DStv Team

I believe Discovery Channel, TLC and Cartoon Network are the #1 priorities for both parties. I think the channels likely to get axed would be TNT, Discovery Family, Travel Channel and between Food Network and HGTV.
