Survivor creator Mark Burnett's hit miniseries The Bible will air on our screens soon in History's first move to bring us their scripted offerings.
As I mentioned last year, History's produced various new scripted series over the past two years but the channel hasn't brought DStv audiences any of them. Vikings and Hatfields & McCoys - two of History's best ever series - aired on M-Net channels instead. History sold the rights to both shows on the international market and M-Net picked them up while History aired endless buy-and-sell shows.
Now, for the first time, we're getting one of History's most notable shows on the channel itself. The Bible premiered with 13.1 million viewers when it aired in the US and went on to multiple Emmy nominations. It's broken miniseries records for DVD and Blu Ray sales and it was made into Son of God, the movie adaptation released this year.
It's Mark Burnett's his first scripted show - he created it with his wife Roma Downey i.e. Monica from Touched by an Angel. It's described as "one grand narrative" and tells Bible stories from Genesis to Revelations in 10 hours.
It premieres on Sunday, 23 November at 20h30.
