Today it’s the 18th of July. I’m sure even the numb can feel that from the thick vibe in the air and the buzz on the social network. So if you thought it was just another day you are probably still stuck in some ancient days. it’s Nelson Mandela’s birthday. Yes, the big guy is turning 94 today and the whole of Mzansi is all up in arms celebrating the life of this icon. Can someone tell me why this day hasn’t been declared a public holiday yet? I mean there’s some King in some neighbouring African Country who has declared a public holiday on his birthday.
As part of his Madiba’s Birthday, people do their 67 Minutes of charity work or good deeds, note to the government, if this day is declared a public holiday we will not only do 67 minutes, we will do 8 hours. I am sure even prosties will be rendering their mahala services for 67 minutes today.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO CHANGE SOMEONE’S LIFE TODAY? I am tempted to sharpen everybody’s pencils in the office, especially because my boss finds peace and harmony in seeing me work hard at my desk.
By the way, it’s also our very own Makisto’s birthday today. Poor Makisto, all the attention is on Mandela. I’m certain even his facebook people only see Mandela and no one else, well we at TVSA would like to wish Makisto, Nelson Rolihlahla Madiba Mandela and everyone celebrating their birthday today a wonderful Happy Birthday and we wish them many many returns.
Go out there and do your 67 minutes worth. I am sure it’ll paint a smile on someone else’s face.
