Tour de France to honour Mandela, live on SuperSport
SuperSport viewers will be able to share a special South African moment in the Tour de France on Wednesday (18 July) when the Tour starts with an acknowledgement of former South African president Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday.
To recognise this global icon, the organisers of the France-South Africa Seasons 2012 and 2013, a collaborative cultural programme between SA and France, have joined forces with Mandela’s family and Tour de France race organisers to honour him.
On Wednesday morning in the small town of Pau at the start of the day’s stage a large banner reading: “Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela” will be held up by children from the local school.
SuperSport will broadcast the moment live with coverage starting at 10.55am on SS6 and HD1.
