SABC3 has announced a September premiere for a new cooking reality show called Ultimate Braai Master. The series is being produced by Cooked in Africa films (producers of Cooked and Charly's Cake Angels) and is on a search for contestants who have what it takes to be ulitmate braai fundis.

The show's looking for food lovers and above average cooks to braai and cook through a 52-day culinary adventure.

The format

15 teams of two contestants each will embark on a road trip featuring 13 cooking challenges across the series. Each team will be made up of a Braai Master and a Braai Buddy who'll tackle the challenges together.

This from gourmet bush cook and series producer Justin Bonello, who'll be hosting the show: "Contestants will be expected to occasionally catch their own food, source their ingredients under the toughest conditions and cook to a standard of culinary excellence that will thrill our judges and raise the bar on the kinds of meals that can be produced on an open fire."

“Whether you’re a student, a professional, retired or simply looking for the next big challenge, Ultimate Braai Master will put your passion for cooking on an open fire to the test and have contestants creating and reinventing the best braai-inspired dishes ever seen in a reality TV series.”

The prize

One team will win the title of Ultimate Braai Master as well R500 000 in cash and a Renault Koleos 4x4.

Who can enter?

The competition is open to all food lovers who consider themselves above average cooks, aged 18 years and older, with a valid driver’s license.

How to enter

You can enter online at the show's website: www.ultimatebraaimaster.com.

Short-listed entrants selected from the online entries will be put through their paces at three regional auditions in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg in May, where Justin together with “Ultimate Braai Master” judges will select the final 15 teams.

Entries close on Friday, 27 April 2012 and the series premieres on Thursday, 13 September.
