It has an age restriction of 18 with all the trimmings for LNSV (Language, Nudity, Sex and Violence) and it premieres this Monday 11 April as part of e.tv's new primetime line-up.

As we told you here, Imbewu moves to 21h00 and The Black Door moves into the 21h30 timeslot, with new episodes from Mondays to Fridays.

We've heard that it's risqué and "Adults Only!" - as evidenced by its PG-rating - so it's not Hallmark Channel but what is it about? Who's in it and will we make it out alive?

Today we answer these questions... well, two of them. We can't answer the third because we haven't seen it yet.

The plot

The Black Door is hidden behind a toilet paper manufacturing factory, a front for an exclusive private venue, described as a high-class pleasure-dome brothel.

It's run by Mam’ Rebecca (Linda Sebezo) who treats her business associates and thanks them “in kind” for facilitating her tender frauds and bribes…

The story begins with a long-distance truck driver, Khaya (Zamani Mbatha), who shares a dream of owning a fleet of buses with his older brother, Chuma (Thobani Nzuza).

An unexpected windfall and a mysterious death leads Khaya to the truth that his brother has been murdered.

To repay the money stolen by his brother, he’s thrust into a seedy world of sex, drugs and tender fraud in Mam' Rebecca's world.

Will Khaya agree to be a sex worker to make big money at The Black Door, or will he suffer the same fate as his late brother?

What happens in the dark will be revealed in the light …
