Scandal! draws the curtains on new family: the Kubekas

It's been a while since we've seen the arrival of a big new family on a soapie and Scandal!'s doing it for spring.

The Kubekas make their debut on Friday 3 September and they're a five-person clan, who bring other characters from their world with them.

As you'll see from the top pic, Dintle's in the thick of things so she's clearly going to be connected to them somehow.

This is who they are:

Vukile Kubeka
Played by Fana Mokeona (The Lab, Generations, Yizo Yizo)

Vukile is a charmer with a healthy dose of humour, yet laced with a very dark past.

He wants to grow a legacy for his family and create generational wealth through his family-owned waste business with his wife, Nomvula.

Being a doting family man, he intends to do everything needed to keep his family united.

Nomvula Kubeka
Played by Slindile Nodangala (Lockdown, Generations, Skwizas)

Vukile’s wife Nomvula is strategic in business and family relations and complemented by her “fixer” tendencies, she uses her cunning abilities to manipulate any situation.

She’s equal to her husband but won’t argue with him in public. She is quick to adapt to the demands of any issue at hand and keeps her cards close to her chest.

The Kubeka’s have three children...

Jojo
Played by Melusi Mbele (Rhythm City, Isibaya, Saints and Sinners)

Jojo is dedicated to the growth of the business and prides himself on being an honest man. He is married to...

Mbali aka Lady M
Played by Nolwazi Ngubeni (also known as Nolwazi Shange) (A Place Called Home, Zabalaza, Mtunzini.com)

Lady M is the complete opposite of her husband. She is from a snobbish family who did not approve of her nuptials to Melusi.

Dudu
Played by Sihle Ndaba (Uzalo, Gomora, The Herd)

Dudu is a business graduate. She is cool-headed and lives for the family business, often sacrificing her heart and freedom in the process.

She is tough and always in control, believing she is the only one of the siblings equipped to run the company.

Zenzele
Played by Robert Mpisi (Soul City, The Queen, Mfolozi Street)

Robert is the first born and being the youngest, he has only known a “soft life”. He is hot-headed, impulsive and a risk-taker.

Rachel
Played by Wendy Gumede (Isibaya, How to Ruin Christmas)

As much as the Kubeka’s live an orderly and almost perfect life, there is an underlying secret that could tarnish this image. Vukile has a concubine. Rachel. A cashier at the waste management company.

Rachel is the total opposite of Nomvula. She's endearing, warm and friendly and very easy to fall in love with, something Vukile found hard to resist …
