Die Fakulteit (The Faculty) is a South African, Afrikaans-language television sitcom revolving around a group of stereotypical characters from school who grew up to become the same characters, this time in charge of a school.
The story was inspired by the question: "Where are the real adults?"
These are the typical high school movie archetypes - the jock, the nerd, the hot girl, the dreamer and the unlikely best friend.
Fast forward 10 years and these characters are still grappling with the same challenges, now finding themselves as incapable adults.
Suddenly, they are thrust into positions of authority as the faculty of an entire school, setting the stage for the narrative.
Taking place in a fictional high school in the vibrant city of modern-day Johannesburg, this setting presents a myriad of hurdles for the characters to overcome.
Die Fakulteit is produced by Coolerbox Brothers, with executive producers Marno Koen and Michael van Zyl. The producers are Mark Reuben and Mikhé Griesel.
The series is directed by George van Rooyen.
The writers are George van Rooyen, Augusta Zietsman and Regardt Visser.
The theme music is by Zaan Sonnekus.
