Description

S.I.E.S. is a South African sitcom produced by Penguin Films about an incompetent public service office which employs an equally questionable consultancy company to help them do their jobs... but soon discover that bringing in so-called "experts" is no guarantee of success.

Welcome to the desk of Social Impact and Empowerment Strategy (S.I.E.S.), pronounced "Sies", operating from the office of the Premier of provincial government.

S.I.E.S. is an ensemble comedy with a star-studded cast about an incompetent public service office which employs an equally questionable consultancy company to help them do their jobs... but soon discover that bringing in so-called "experts" is no guarantee of success.

S.I.E.S. exists to service all ministerial departments and fulfil their needs regarding event organisation. This stretches to launches, functions, entertainment, conferences and workshops.

In short, as one of the desk employees so adroitly states, "we organise parties". What they didn't mention is that they organise parties badly.

They outsource every resource. Even the most accomplished consultant would struggle to find a solution to their many problems.

S.I.E.S. is spearheaded by Nomsa Sibisi (Busi Lurayi) who has no trouble dumping her responsibilities on everyone else's laps. Prudence Plaaitjies pronounced Pla'zhay, (Chantal Stanfield) is Nomsa's ever-astute, ever-annoyingly efficient assistant.

The sunny and charming Magda van Niekerk (Anthea Thompson) is never without a plate of koeksisters and the beefy Ike Molefe (Siv Ngesi) make up the S.I.E.S. employees.

S.I.E.S.'s equally incompetent consultants Bob Johnson (Ashley Taylor) and Sandile Mafalo (Anele Mtoti) busk their way to solutions.

But it's a case of the blind leading the blind... and in their case, right into the middle of oncoming traffic on the N1.
