Description

The Lying Game is an American teen drama television series produced by Alloy Entertainment and Warner Horizon Television and based on a series of novels of the same name by Sara Shepard, which follows twins - separated at birth under mysterious circumstances - who reconnect and undertake to find their birth mother and expose the truth.

The series aired in the USA on ABC Family from 15 August, 2011 to 12 March, 2013. There are 30 hour-long episodes in two seasons.

The Lying Game premiered in South Africa on M-Net (simulcast in HD) on Friday 16 December 2011, at 20h30. The first season later aired on DStv's M-Net Series channel and the show moved to M-Net Series Showcase (simulcast in HD) for Season 2. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 2 premiered on M-Net Series Showcase on Sunday 27 October 2013, at 18h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 10 episodes in the second and final season.

Season 1

Inspired by the Sara Shepard (Pretty Little Liars) book series of the same name, The Lying Game follows long-lost twins Emma and Sutton.

Separated under mysterious circumstances, Sutton was adopted by the wealthy Mercer family in Phoenix, while Emma grew up in the foster system. When the twins reunite as teenagers, they keep it a secret.

While Sutton goes in search of the truth, Emma takes over her life and discovers more secrets and lies than she could have imagined.

Yearning for the family she never had, kind-hearted foster kid Emma agrees to step into Sutton's privileged shoes while she searches for their birth parents, setting in motion a web of secrecy and lies.

Season 2

As the twins' saga continues in season two, there are more surprises, secrets and lies.

The girls' recently revealed birth mother Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) lures Sutton (Alexandra Chando) into her plans for the Mercer family.

Emma (Chando) grows closer to Thayer, while still being drawn to Ethan, who has started to reconnect with Sutton.

Kristin feels betrayed after Ted came clean about his long ago affair with Rebecca, but Ted might be hiding even more shocking revelations.

And Mads connects with a mysterious new guy in town who brings a whole new level of secrets with him.

The Lying Game is produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television and is executive produced by Charles Pratt, Jr., Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo.
