Twenty Good Years is a half-hour comedy series that follows two New Yorkers who have finally realised that life doesn't last forever.
Twenty Good Years premiered in the US on 1 November 2006, but was canned after only four episodes had aired.
It premiered in South Africa on M-Net on Monday 1 January 2007. It was broadcast daily (week days only) at 18h30.
The show was replaced after only 10 episodes had aired, by Season 17 of The Simpsons (which premiered on Monday 15 January), but was reinstated on Tuesday 23 January after tapes of The Simpsons failed to arrive in South Africa in time for their scheduled broadcast.
The last four episodes of Twenty Good Years were aired from 23-26 January 2007, also in the 18h30 timeslot.
Synopsis
Mismatched buddies John Mason, an impulsive, admittedly self-absorbed, thrice-divorced surgeon who was recently forced into retirement; and Jeffrey Pyne, a widower judge who overthinks every situation, are polar opposites in every way.
But the one supposition on which they can find some common ground is that they only have about 20 good years left.
With that in mind, both men vow to live each day as if it were their last, despite the consequences - and despite what their friends, family and peers might think.
That includes John's pregnant daughter and Jeffrey's unmotivated son. After all, when age meets anarchy, there's no time for regrets.
There are 13 episodes in the series, although only four aired in the US.
