Synopsis

Have you ever thought of growing your own fruit and veg but don't know where to start? If so, Heaven's Garden is just what you have been waiting for.

Tune in to watch award-winning gardener Hannah Genders as she helps the Robinsons create their own organic garden whilst providing tips on how to create your own along the way.

TV chef Mike Robinson and his wife Katie took the life changing decision to blow their savings on buying their local boozer, The Pot Kiln. The Pot Kiln is however no ordinary watering-hole. It's a pioneering ecologically sound gastro-pub and key to its success is a menu that uses only the freshest local ingredients - much of it grown in The Pot Kiln's own garden.

Searching for a bit of help and inspiration, Mike and Katie decided to call in two-time Chelsea medal-winner Hannah Genders a garden designer with a passion for organic research and self-sufficiency.

Hannah's brief was to design, plant and cultivate a fully functional organic garden that would in turn provide all the restaurant's fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers.

Heaven's Garden follows Hannah's progress and provides viewers with an indispensable step-by-step guide to creating their own natural plot, from preparing the soil and seed propagation through to pest control and the final harvest.

As the series progresses, Hannah will demonstrate how to grow 10 separate families of crops - carrots, parsnips, Swiss chard and pak choi included together with luscious figs, apricots and peaches and elegant edible flowers.

In one segment Hannah will also be on the trail of some long-lost regional plants, attempting to reintroduce several local varieties such as Marjory's Plum, last seen back in 1912.

Aside from Hannah's expert instruction, Heaven's Garden also explores the origins of chemical-free farming and goes out and about to visit some of the country's foremost organic institutes and enterprises.

This 10-part series is a definitive guide to practical organic gardening.
