About the Show

Top Gear is an American motoring magazine television series based on the British series of the same name and as with the original version the show has its own version of The Stig, an anonymous racing driver who tests vehicles, and a celebrity guest is featured each week.

The show's presenters are professional racing driver Tanner Foust, actor and comedian Adam Ferrara, and automotive and racing analyst Rutledge Wood.

Top Gear delves deeper into the colourful history of the automobile and showcases an offbeat celebration of the art of driving, featuring super-cars, extreme stunts and challenges, car reviews and celebrity interviews, as well as the eccentric adventures of its hosts with Top Gear's customary wit and humour.

Hosted by comedian and car buff Adam Ferrara, champion rally and drift racer Tanner Foust and racing analyst Rutledge Wood, Top Gear explores the history of America, one lap at a time.

The show follows a similar format of the BBC version: three main hosts present, The Stig (a secret race driver) tests vehicles, and celebrities are invited for interviews and to drive vehicles around a test track.

In addition, challenges similar in nature to the ones presented in the original show are replicated in Top Gear USA. The "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" (retitled "Big Star, Small Car") segment uses a Suzuki SX4 Sportback.

Filming of this segment, along with in-studio segments take place at the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, now known as the Orange County Great Park, in Irvine, California.

Over the series, the trio of presenters tackle a number of extreme challenges, including a moonshine run along a classic Prohibition route in the Deep South, racing a HALO jumper in a Hennessey Velociraptor across the Arizona desert and evading a Cobra helicopter gunship in a Dodge Viper... through the middle of a town.

The Stig also appears, and  a host of celebrities take the wheel in "Big Star, Small Car", including astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Lost actor Dominic Monaghan and Modern Family's Ty Burrell.
