Revenge is an American mystery thriller television series created by Mike Kelley about a woman who returns to the Hamptons one summer, having lived there once as a little girl, to exact revenge on her old neighbours for conspiring to frame her father for an act of terrorism he didn't commit.
The series premiered in the USA on ABC on 21 September, 2011.
Revenge premiered in South Africa on M-Net and M-Net HD on Thursday 9 August 2012, at 19h30. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Season 2 premiered on M-Net and M-Net HD on Thursday 10 January 2013, at 19h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 22 episodes in the second season.
Season 2
Revenge is universal. As primal as the need for love, sex, or the feeding of a searing hunger. Revenge crosses time and culture. It starts unwinnable wars and visits generations of blood feuds on families with unsettled scores.
Revenge is as old as humanity. Dark and dramatic and endless.
Wealth, beauty and status define the people in this town, but one woman is willing to destroy everyone for the sake of revenge.
Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) is new to the Hamptons. She's met some of her wealthy neighbours, has made a few new friends and seemingly blends into the town.
But something is a little odd about a young girl living in a wealthy town all on her own, and the truth is that Emily isn't exactly new to the neighbourhood. In fact, this was once her old neighbourhood, until something bad happened that ruined her family and their reputation.
Now Emily is back, and she's returned to right some of those wrongs in the best way she knows how – with a vengeance.
Seventeen years ago, Emily's father was framed for a horrific crime by neighbours he trusted, and was sentenced to a life in prison. She never saw her father again and spent her childhood consumed by rage, loss and betrayal.
Years later, Emily returns under an assumed identity with one endgame - Revenge - every social overture a carefully planned chip at the foundation of her sworn enemies, until their lives come crashing down around them.
In the second season, Emily is back to continue the fight she started in Season 1. She found out her father was murdered, her mother is still alive, and the conspiracy doesn't end with the Graysons.
The only questions left are how high up the conspiracy goes and what Emily will discover along the way.
