Show Summary

My Name Is Earl is an American sitcom created by Greg Garcia and produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television about a petty crook who decides to right the wrongs of his past after discovering the concept of karma.

The series aired in the USA on NBC from 20 September, 2005 to 14 May, 2009. It was officially cancelled on 19 May, 2009. There are 96 half-hour episodes in four seasons.

My Name is Earl premiered in South Africa on M-Net on Wednesday 28 June 2006, at 19h30. It later aired on DStv's M-Net Series channel and on e.tv. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 3 premiered on e.tv on Sunday 12 September 2010, at 19h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 22 episodes in the third season.

Season 3

Earl's back for a third season of karmic retribution and spends his time in prison.

He confesses to a crime that he did not commit so that that his ex-wife Joy doesn’t go to jail, while his brother, Randy, struggles to survive without his brother.

Will Earl be released or will he and his friends plan a prison break?

Show Trivia

Earl's eyes are closed in every photograph taken of him in the show.

Earl has a list of all the bad things he's done which he tries to correct and ticks off through the course of the show to improve his karma.

In the first episode the audience is told that he has 259 items. These are added to during different episodes and total 267 by episode 18.

The show's tagline is: "Karma is a funny thing."

The show is created by Greg Garcia who first sent the script to FOX who turned it down. NBC picked it up approximately 18 months later after reading the script.

Earl is partly based on the character of Greg's step-father, also called Earl.

All the action takes place in the fictional town of Camden County, which is named after Greg's son.
