The 14 contestants who will be competing in South Africa's first ever Survivor have been announced by M-Net.
The show starts in exactly two weeks, which is just enough time to get to know them.
At first glance it appears to be a pretty handy Survivor cast. It has all the necessary ingredients: old, young, models, tough guys, trolls and religious nuts, to name a few.
The residence representation is as follows:
Johannesburg: 7
Cape Town: 4
Durban: 2
Kempton Park: 1
The gender split is equal, with seven women and seven men. The average age of the contestants is 32.
More than 18,000 South Africans entered Survivor, including
one man from Pretoria who entered 1,000 times.
His efforts went unrewarded as he did not make the cut, which is probably for the best - being crazy is not necessarily the best attribute on a game like Survivor.

Mark Bayly - was offered the job of hosting the show instead,
as was announced on 16 July.
The head of M-Net's Original Productions, Carl Fischer, said the contestants were carefully chosen to provide "an unforgettable television experience".
"They are attractive, strong characters from different walks of life who will each bring interesting dynamics to the show," he said. "As in every Survivor series, the mix of personality types in an unfamiliar environment is the fuse that ignites the explosions."
Indeed. The last thing we want is everyone to be nice to each other, and from the crowd below we feel pretty safe on that score.
