Antonio Summerton (27 August 1980 - 29 December 2007) was a South African actor best known for his role as Jason on the e.tv soapie Backstage, from 2000-2002.
Summerton cut his acting teeth with the New Africa Theatre Association, and studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch.
Following his role in Backstage, in 2004 Summerton played the role of Duncan on the kykNET drama series Villa Rosa. He also played the guest role of Rick on the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan in the same year.
Summerton also hosted the show Selekta on DStv's go channel.
He has worked on the international films Human Cargo and Red Dust, Darrell Roodt's Lullaby and Starship Troopers.
He was a regular on the M-Net soapie Binnelanders from 2006-2007, playing the role of Brendan George, the love interest of Dr Jennifer Adams (played by Sandi Schultz).
In August 2007 he was confirmed as the host of the new reality stripping show Stripteaze, which premiered on DStv's actionX channel on 1 September, 2007.
His final acting role was as the title character in the SABC2 mini-series Noah's Ark, which aired from July to August, 2008.
Death
On 29 December 2007, Summerton was riding his motorcycle in Roodepoort when he lost control and hit a light pole, cutting it in half.
He was declared dead on the scene. He was 27.
