Marike Smith is a South African actress best known for her starring role as Mari de Witt in the kykNET period drama television series Donkerland, in 2013. It was her screen acting debut.
Born and raised in Mpumalanga, Marike exchanged her small town life for her big time dreams in the performing arts.
She obtained her BTech (Cum Laude) in Musical Theatre at the Tswane University of Technology in 2011. During her studies Marike appeared in Urinetown (2008), Rent (2009) and as Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2010).
Her professional experience includes Ester The Musical (State Theatre), Aladdin (The National Children's Theatre), Gogga's (The National Children's Theatre) and the children's puppeteering show Cool Catz (e.tv).
