Bio

Liz Carr is an English actress, stand-up comedienne, television presenter and disability rights activist best known for her starring role as dead-pan, super-efficient and sarcastic forensic examiner Clarissa Mullery in the crime thriller police procedural television series Silent Witness, since 2013.

She joined the cast for the 16th season, after the departure of Tom Ward at the conclusion of Season 15. It was her first major television role.

Liz's first professional acting role was at the age of 31 when she played Brecht's Mother Courage after training with the Graeae Theatre Company.

As a stand-up comedian she regularly performs with Abnormally Funny People and co-hosted BBC awarding-winning comedy podcast OUCH!. She is a regular contributor on BBC Radio 5Live and Radio 4.

She also travelled to countries where assisted suicide is legal for Euthanasia Road Trip, a BBC World Service documentary.

Liz studied Law at the University of Nottingham. She uses a wheelchair because of a muscle-wasting disease and frequently refers to her disability in her stand up routines.
