Bio

Phuti Khomo is a South African actress, radio DJ, television presenter and model best known for her role as fashion designer Carol Chabeli, the wife of Njabulo Chabeli (Gabriel Mini), in the SABC2 soapie Muvhango.

She is also known for winning the Miss S.A. Teen 2002 pageant, for her role as Bali on the M-Net soapie Egoli and for playing Phaphama Molefe on the SABC1 drama series Mtunzini.com, from 2008-2009.

Phuti grew up in the townships of Soshanguve, Mamelodi and Attridgeville with her grandparents.

When she started grade 6, she was living with her mother and sister. She has entered beauty pageants since she was six years old and won Miss S.A. Teen 2002. She attended an Art School in Pretoria for two years, where she studied Drama.

Phuti grew up wanting to act and by 2001 had found herself in a small role on the SABC1 soapie Generations.

Her big break, though, came in 2002. Phuti is famous for being one of the most enduring and endearing Miss SA Teens in the history of the pageant. The crown led to her first presenting job – on the SABC music show One.

She gained further acting experience on the soapie Egoli, where she spent three years. For more than two years Phuti was a weekend voice on the popular Gauteng-based radio station Yfm.

Phuti was the face of the Palmolive Mini Cooper and was nominated by FHM as one of the 50 most successful and beautiful women in South Africa.

In 2007 Phuti hosted the South African music gossip show Ripped on e.tv. The show was broadcast on e.tv from 2-6 July 2007, before the premiere of the channel's new youth soapie, Rhythm City.

Also in 2007 she won the lead role in Mtunzini.com after exhaustive auditions. She replaced KB Motsilanyane in the role of Phaphama Molefe from the second season onwards, when KB left the show to take up a role on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.

She co-hosted - with Jonaid Carrera - the M-Net Series original reality show Rivals in Romance in January 2011.

In 2012 she starred as Student Constable Dineo Molobi, living her dream as a "real" cop fighting for justice against crime, in the SABC2 police drama series Streets of Mangaung. In the same year she joined Muvhango.
