Bio

Boity Thulo is a South African television presenter, actress, socialite and model known for her numerous appearances in television shows, especially as host of the e.tv music programme Club 808.

She was raised in Potchefstroom by her aunt and her grandparents. Boity studied Psychology and Criminology for two years before dropping out to sign up with a casting agent.

She knew from a young age that she wanted to be in the entertainment industry. The Wimpy Cheesenator commercial was her very first casting. She then landed a number of TV presenting gigs in succession, including SkyRoom Live.

She first rose to fame by co-hosting the SABC1 educational series The Media Career Guide Show (2011), although her television debut was actually a year earlier, when she guest starred on the second season of the e.tv drama series 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls.

She further increased her exposure in late 2011 when she appeared as a guest judge on the second season of the SABC1 competition series Turn It Out: Street Battle.

She co-hosted the SABC1 youth reality series Zoned, in 2012. Later that year she had a small guest starring role in the Mzansi Magic telenovela iNkaba.

In 2013 she made guest appearances on several shows including the Vuzu show 10 Over 10, the SABC1 dance show Turn It Out and was a presenter at the 19th Annual South African Music Awards.

In the same year she was interviewed by Nicky Greenwall for her show ScreenTime with Nicky Greenwall and had a small guest role in the Mzansi Magic comedy series Taxi Ride, based on David Kau's 2012 feature film of the same name. She was also the online insert presenter for Big Brother Africa - Season 8 (The Chase).

In June 2013 she began starring in the Mzansi Magic drama series Rockville as Mpho Bogatsu. The series, produced by Connie Ferguson and Shona Ferguson, was her first starring acting role in television.

She was a celebrity contestant on the first ever episode of the e.tv game show I Love South Africa (which aired on 3 May, 2014), in a team with kwaito musician Mandoza and actor Owen Sejake.

In June 2014 she was the featured celebrity on Episode 2 of the fourth season of the e.tv reality series Rolling With... Celeb Edition. She also guest starred on the second season of the SABC1 sitcom Ses'Top La.

In July 2014 she was one of the celebrity dancers on the seventh season of the SABC3 reality competition series Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Ryan Hammond. They were the second couple voted out of the show.

From August to October, 2014, Boity starred with choreographer Somizi Mhlongo and musician Bongani Fassie in the second season of the e.tv docu-reality series Reality Check, in which the three had to swap their glamorous celebrity lifestyles for some intensely laborious charity work.

In late 2014 she guest starred on the third season of the SABC1 sitcom My Perfect Family. She also appeared on the SABC3 talk show Tongue in Cheek, giving her fitness and beauty secrets.

Beginning in March 2015, Boity replaced Nonhle Thema as co-host of the e.tv music show Club 808, with co-host Cyprian Ndlovu.

In July 2015 Boity was a presenter at the fifth instalment of the MTV Africa Music Awards, where she presented the award for Best Collaboration. That same year she starred in the third season of Rockville.

She was the first celebrity to be interviewed on the sixth season of Nicky Greenwall's series The Close Up, on 25 February, 2016.

Boity and former boyfriend, hip hop star Cassper Nyovest, were the first two celebrities to lock horns in the MTV Africa reality competition series Lip Sync Battle Africa when the series premiered on 14 April, 2016.

Beginning in July 2016 she was one of the three co-hosts of the MTV video clip show Ridiculousness Africa, with Basketmouth and Thomas Gumede.

On 26 September, 2016 she made her debut on the SABC3 soapie High Rollers as Charity, a high-class escort.

In 2017 she joined the e.tv soapie Rhythm City in the role radio presenter Luscious Lu, making her debut in April.

From May to July, 2017, she co-hosted (with Skhumba Hlophe) the advertiser-funded motoring review show Change Down, on Mzansi Magic.
