TV, radio and model personality Kgomotso Seboko |  Hlomla Dlandala - with Candy!

Award ceremonies sometimes make celebs feel like they are attending a humdrum event, but we can’t say the same for the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards.

There’s something about getting a response from the people their life’s work is dedicated to. Knowing there’s someone that appreciates their craft and embraces whatever message they want to share with their audience is something to be grateful for.

Saturday night was a gratitude evening dedicated to the viewers. The viewers and listeners response to a call to vote for their various favourite artists.

The only complaint from me is that the red carpet was a little squished which meant journos were literally on top of each other as often times the celebs would be standing in a tight queue as they waited for the line to move along… It wasn’t easy getting the best pic; however the celebs were patient and very composed…

Colourful and bling seemed to be the leading outfit choice for most of the attendees at this black tie event.

Check out the pics and share your thoughts…

Summary
“Hypeman” for the evening was comedian Summary.

Bonang Matheba
Bonang hosted the awards and also won an award for the Favourite Personality of the year. I need a pair of Bonang boobs, those babies looked gorgeous in those clevava dresses.

I just had to take this pic of Baba Ganoosh, absolutely gorge!

Gert-Johan and Cousin
Gert-Johan Coetzee had dressed his cousin, Lerato Kganyago and Nomzamo Mbatha...

Gert-Johan Coetzee and Nomzamo Mbatha
I think these awards need best dressed category - except Nomzamo would take the award every single year!

Gert-Johan Coetzee and Lerato Kganyago
Gert's colour is red. When he makes a red dress, there's a a certain je ne ce quoi on the design.

Me with Zamani Mbatha, who looked fabulous in this suit. This was a popular material choice for the night with about 4 other ladies spotted with the same material on their dresses.

Rebecca Malope
Dr Rebecca Malope received the lifetime achievement /Legend award and closed off her performance with a classy King Monada Idibala challenge move, or maybe she tripped.

She completely ignored the teleprompt for her prepared speech and gave an emotional one instead. Was very amusing watching that teleprompt marker going up and down trying to find her point.

Somgaga
Somgaga came on stage to join Boom Shaka to present the best actor award. I agree with Somgaga that he would make an outstanding third member for the group.

Look, if Bongo Maffin could make a comeback, Boom Shaka with Somgaga can definitely shake up the charts too. If they still want to do music like...

...Mafikizolo. Needless to say this talented duo never disappoint, their less than 10 minute performance had 3 outfit changes with a tribute to their late band-member Tebogo Modingoane.

Tembsie Matu
Pint-sized and extremely shy Tembsie Matu really deserved her win for both the overall Viewers' Choice winner and the Best Actress. she is a joy to watch on the weekly telenovela The Queen.

I would however want to see her on the next season of The Herd. I can wish!

Sometimes celebrities wear the best looking dresses BUT with a lot of work. I spotted some ladies that looked absolutely gorgeous in their dresses but in need of constant help with getting the dress just right for a picture.

Lalla Hirayama
Fixing the dress.

Lalla Hirayama
Just perfect for the picture.

Esteemed actress Moshidi Motshegwa was an absolute pleasure to interview. I pray her amazing performances on every show she has been on are rewarded with a lifetime celebration award in the future.

Anele Mdoda
I absolutely loved how Anele looked in this dress.

Talitha Ndima
I am so in love with Talitha Ndima. When I saw her, I was tempted to grab her and ask her to get boo and I on the Marry Me Now reality show.

Starstruck! How I felt to meet the Maake men from The Queen. I am Kabelo Moalusi's biggest fan.

Good one Segs! sad

I love that Sis Ribs trashed the teleprompter, ha - doing it Her Way. Crazy how she doesn't age a day.

Lalla's dress - what a mission. I'd feel depressed from the morning already, waking up knowing I had to put so much effort into moving around for a night - Baba Ganoosh has the right idea... and Zamani - funky.
