Last week DStv backtracked on its Catch Up policy for Premium susbcribers and this week they've backtracked on the policy for Compact and Extra subscribers too.

For the past two and a half years Compact and Extra subscribers who don't have Exloras have been deprived of the DStv Now Catch Up service and now DStv's doing the right thing by making the service available to everyone on both packages.

The exact date of access hasn't been cofirmed yet but it's going to happen sometime after April, in DStv's new financial year. This development means that Extra and Compact subscribers can access the Catch Up service via cell phones and computers. Here's an explanation of everything you need to know:

By downloading the app to your cellphone, or logging on via your desktop browser, you can watch Live TV, see the DStv TV Guide, enjoy DStv Catch Up content (via streaming or download) and manage your account.

The Live TV and DStv Catch Up content on DStv Now will be as per the package you are on.

DStv Extra customers will have access to 47 channels on the go, while DStv Compact customers will get 37 channels. This includes live streaming of package-specific SuperSport channels.

You can register up to four different devices for DStv Now on the same account. To get set up you to need a Connect ID that you can create on now.dstv.com or through the DStv Now app.

You can download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store for your mobile device or tablet, or visit now.dstv.com.

Once you’re on DStv Now, click Register and then:

- Click Yes to indicate that you’re a DStv customer.
- Enter your ID or passport number,
- You’ll be sent a one-time pin to the mobile number associated with your DStv account,
- Use the one-time pin to complete your registration,
- Enter your first name and email address, then create your password and login.
