A tween reviews SABC3's new daily tween show

The verdict is in.

We have an expert opinion on SABC3's new daily tweens show Tween Talk Fun-natix.

The show, which changed names when it premiered last week, airs at 14h00 on SABC3 daily and it's aimed at tweens aged be'tween 9 to 12.

We asked an expert to review the show for us as a guest writer and she's a true expert because she's aged 10-and-a-half.

Here's what she has to say about it in her own words:

Funatix is a nice show for tweens. It is interesting but it has some ups and downs.

What I really enjoyed were the music videos. I enjoyed them because they added the lyrics to the videos, which gave me a chance to learn the words of the song.

I also enjoyed the games but I think if they let you try to play the games to, it would be more interesting e.g. if they showed you what the code was in the code game, it would allow us to play along at home.

I enjoyed the science experiment… it was interesting to watch and is something I might try at home.

I also enjoyed the grafiti, but once again, the artist only spoke about it and did not show us how the art was done.

On Monday they had a clown on the show, which for tweens is way too young.

On Wednesday at the end dance, they didn’t show you the proper dance, they showed you a small part of the video. I would have liked to have seen the entire video, and not the studio children dancing.

The studio is nicely designed, but what I don’t understand is if the program is for tweens, why they have such young children hanging around the studio, and they get in the way of the camera.

The main presenter is very pretty, but almost tries to be too cool, and is a little over the top with some of the people she interviews. The main guy also tries to be too cool and isn’t very cool at all. “Wikka-wikka whats your website”… then the dancer didn’t really understand what he was talking about.

All in all, the show is entertaining, but some parts are boring and not aimed at tweens. I also think that the show is too long. The show should be more about the people they are interviewing, rather than the presenters.

If I am at home today and the tv is on, I will keep my eye out for the show. But I will not watch this show next week, because I will be at school and only get home as the show is coming to an end.
