So the date and venue have been confirmed for this year's SAMAs and the organisers have suddenly made a big and loooong overdue change to the venue.
They've chosen to go for real waves with actual sea in Durban instead of Sun City's automated wave at Valley of the Wave
s. Sun City has been the signature venue of the awards for years so the move is a very notable one.
The awards couldn't be at Sun City even if they wanted to be because the entertainment area is being renovated - this is why Miss South Africa wasn't at Sun City either. Will be interesting to see if both ceremonies return once the renovations have been completed.
As for the finer details of this year's SAMAs... the ceremony will be happening at the Durban International Convention Centre in a new parnership with the Ethekwini Municipality.
The nominees are being announced in April and the ceremony's happening on 4 June, for the 22nd time.
