Denise wins Survivor Philippines!

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!!! I was convinced she was going to win Survivor on Monday night and her loss has left me reeling. Not that Denise doesn't deserve it BUT I really, really wanted to Lisa to win so I can't help feeling disappointed.

And it's all Jonathan's fault! I was shocked by his behaviour - and so angry about too. What was he thinking when he outed Lisa at the final Tribal Council?? He was so unbelievably weird and aggressive I've gone off him completely. It's nuts! One moment he was my second fave and the next he plunged to Most Loathed.

He managed to outdo Abi, especially after what she said during the Reunion Show. I was impressed with her confessional and her awareness of her crimes and decided to forgive her.

I had no problems with RC not forgiving her though because I understand why she can't. It sucks to be accused of doing something you didn't do under normal circumstances so I can imagine it would drive you out of your mind if it happened in the context of Survivor.

I'm sure Jonathan's behaviour at Tribal must have driven Lisa out of her mind too, especially while the show was airing in America and they waited to see who had won. I'm convinced it had an impact on the jury's decision and I'm iffy that Jeff didn't bring it up during the Reunion Show - he should have asked everyone if they'd have voted for her if the incident hadn't happened.

The only consolation was Lisa winning the fan favourite vote. It helped soothe the pain and was cool for Malcolm too - even though he didn't win, he could see his efforts were worth it.

It also left me feeling a little sympathy for Skupin but the pang didn't last long. I directed my attention towards Denise's hair instead and thought it looked better. I also realised she was my second choice for the win - if it couldn't be Lisa then I'm content it was her.

She's a real Iowa person and her final Tribal grilling revealed she's been playing a social game since the start because she was different during their questions. Not unpleasant, just different.

I'm not convinced Penner's outing of Lisa cost her the victory.  Denise beat her 6-1, so there would have to have been too many jury members undecided enough to be swayed by the reveal than I would think likely.

The reality is that once they got to the Final Four, it was always going to be Denise or Malcolm.  The only way that Lisa or Skupin could have won would have been if they'd taken Carter with them to the end (or Abi of course, but that was never going to happen).

And it's not as if Lisa denied her past.  Unlike in past seasons, when people have lied about what they do/did, she did own up to being a former TV star when asked about it - it was just that very few people did.

So while I don't understand why Penner revealed, I don't think it made much difference.

Hey guys! am happy with Denise's win. Well deserved tough lady.
Yes was disappointed with Penner outing Lisa but was not surprised. He is very charming but bears grudges.
Looks like Abi did learn from watching herself and I think once RC saw Pete's shenanigans, it became evident that he was more of a villain than Abi was.
So thanks again Tashi for the Survivor blogs and updates! Any idea when the next one airs. Feeling nostalgic for the TVSA old days. Hope Cloud9 is well wherever she is.

I was really sure that Malcom had it in the bag, but thats the beauty of this game hella unpredictable. Congrats to Denise, real, hard worker and her game was clean thoughout.

@wonderlad: Next week it's The Amazing Race S21, which appears to have 12 episodes.  So if the next season of Survivor follows directly afterwards, it'll start on 28 September.

Hey everyone - pleasure - thanks for your company!

>>Yes was disappointed with Penner outing Lisa but was not surprised. He is very charming but bears grudges.<<

It's bizarre 'cos I never realised this about him before - I didn't expect it at all. He bangs on about it at Ponderosa - in Malcolm's Ponderosa vids - he says he doesn't understand when the Lisa/Skupin alliance joined up with Malcolm and Denise. Duh. It's crazy that he doesn't realise it was him and his refusal to commit to an alliance!

>>So while I don't understand why Penner revealed, I don't think it made much difference.<<

The thing that troubled me was that the jury would think she'd deliberately been dishonest by not saying anything about it. I liked what she said about no-one else mentioning what they did as teens - so true. Maybe this deflected things enough for it not to be an issue.

I was also concerned that they were influenced by Jonathan's extreme negativity towards her because they're clearly very influenced by him - when he called it her "shame" - even if they didn't let the facts sway them, his attitude could have rubbed off?

>>The reality is that once they got to the Final Four, it was always going to be Denise or Malcolm.  The only way that Lisa or Skupin could have won would have been if they'd taken Carter with them to the end (or Abi of course, but that was never going to happen).<<

So interesting - I really thought Lisa stood an excellent chance. I suppose it's because I always expect the jury to be over their bitterness by the time they vote but they never are.

They never get over it Tashi and thats why the strategy should be to sit next to someone who is more hated that you. Russel always made it to top 2 but never won because he was always the most hated

I don't think there was any real bitterness towards towards Lisa, apart from Abi and Artis, and she did seem to be quite well-liked.  On another season, she might have won as she did play a good game, but Malcolm and Denise just had the better story.

Their original tribe lost all its challenges, so they had to start from the bottom when they were incorporated into the other two tribes and making it to the Final Four means that they had to have had a good social and strategic game.  Lisa on the other hand was in a dominant tribe, and while she did make a good strategic move in ditching her original tribe, it resulted in her being in the dominant alliance.  So Lisa's progress to the end was a lot easier than that of Denise or Malcolm, and was always going to count against her if she came up against either of them.

This was a great season.... Firstly congrats Denise (she no longer sucks at life). Her opening statement was the G.O.A.T She lived with all the castaways Was at every tribal and survived Survived a vampire bug bite Gave Abi a tongue lashing at tribal and still got her vote As for season 26.....we will cross that bridge when we get there. I have alot to say and 95% of it aint good
