Introducing... Muvhango's new Shola

Prepare for a new head'turner on Muvhango.

As you may have seen in the Muvhango June Teasers, a new character called Shola arrives on the scene soon. She debuts on Friday, 5 June and she's so confident, good looking and articulate she's going to freak everyone out. The men are going to be magnetically drawn to her and the women are going to give her the side eye.

She's played by newcomer Muduna Kapumba, a Zambian actress who moved to South Africa 12 years ago. Muduna acted when she was in Zambia and took a break when she came to South Africa. Last year she was hit by the acting bug again after being inspired by Lupita Nyong'o and decided to pursue it professionally.

She's had a couple of guest roles since then - she played a journalist on Rhythm City - but Muvhango's her Big Break.

She needs to be dynamic and fierce for the role because Shola's a hard-core businesswoman with high ambitions for her family's business. Her father's one of Nigeria's first self-made oil millionaires so she arrives to do business with the Mukwevho's.

Here's more about her from the character brief Muduna worked from:

Shola Soludo’s father partnered with foreign companies in oil extraction, and then started his own enormously profitable local petrol and diesel retailer. In the 80's, Shola’s father had some dealings with Albert Mukwevho and a bond between the two families was forged.

Now, their company is poised to build an oil refinery in Nigeria and is looking for a South African construction partner.  Shola is dispatched by her father to track down Thandaza and to approach the Mukwevho family about entering into business together to build the oil refinery.

As the product of an extremely privileged upbringing, Shola is used to getting her way, and her confidence can sometimes be seen as arrogance. She is highly ambitious, but her ambition is for the family business, to which she will always remain loyal.

While her father remains extremely conservative in his approach to business, Shola is an innovator, who is always unpredictable in her strategy and tactics. As a beautiful woman, she is also quite comfortable in using her looks to disarm her opponents, and having just pulled out of a long engagement, she arrives in Johannesburg with an open mind, and a flirtatious demeanour.

Happy she's not a yellow bone...... Interesting character. I love Muvhango for bringing us actors we don't know.

Isn't it strange that TVSA can inform us about newcomers of Muvhango but not of other shows like Generations - Legacy. Yesterday we saw a new character, Scarlet yet we weren't aware of her appearance.
