Shine - It's Time: Cape Town

Last night marked the end of the regional Shine auditions in the beautiful mother city. As unexpected as the Cape Town weather, talent wasn’t exactly up to scratch as compared to the last three regions. However, some hopefuls managed to impress the judges, making them believe that they have indeed saved the best for last. Nonetheless, just like the other three regions Cape town also had its fair share of funny auditions, sending judges on a laughing spree.

(judges)

The auditions kicked off on a very funny note but things changed for the better when a lady called Cynthia walked in and sang her heart out impressing the judges and also saying something about Mthunzi Namba changing the lyrics of the song she was singing. Nonetheless, she was the first person to get a yes from all the judges.

(Cynthia).

After Cynthia walked in a lady who was part of a duo who wanted to be the next shining stars. But clearly the group was not gonna go anywhere as both of them got an uncontested ‘no’. and there were those who were inspired by Susan Boyle and the only difference of course being the fact that they couldn’t sing to save their lives. One such was a 44 year Aubrey, whom the judges couldn’t help but crack up

.
( 44 years old)

And then there was a 23 year old Wizzel who did not do any justice to his rendition of ‘Jesus what a wonder you are’ for which the judges thought he should consider another career and stay as far away from singing as possible.

Lusanda was also one of the hopefuls who impressed the judges by working wonders on the ‘Gama lenkosi malibongwe’. I must admit that I was impressed as well as not most people could sing a chorus and sound like a solo (not sure if this makes sense but yah)

Next week the judges are back in Pretoria for the call back auditions where viewers will see the Pretoria top 20 being narrowed down to top 2 that will represent Pretoria region in the National top 9 and week after that its back to Joburg Call back auditions and so forth.

Shine: Sundays @18:00 on Ch 331 on DSTV
