Last night marked the first episode of the Shine callback auditions in Pretoria. This leg of the competition kicked off with the top 20 hopefuls that made it through to the to this round after the nail biting auditions that shattered most of the dreams and gave hope to many. Throughout the auditions, the judges were undecided as to who will make it to the top 10 as the competition and talent in Pretoria was just out of this world. However, the notable amongst the rest was the girls from Mamelodi choir who were just amazing to a point that the judges couldn’t make up their minds as to who was the best amongst the rest as each of them brought something unique yet enjoyable to the tableNonetheless after the top 20 sang their lungs out, it was another struggle for the judges as they had to wither the top 20 to top 10. Amongst them was a 20 year old Cizario who brought the house down with his unique voice that convinced the judges that he deserved the spot in the top 10. A 17 year old Ndumiso, who made Tshepo cry on her first audition also showed the judges why she deserved a spot in the top 10 as she held nothing back and gave her all making the judges fall in love with her more. Nthabiseng was also the judges’ favourite but thought her presentation needed more work as she seemed shy yet her angelic voice. However, the top 10 hopefuls showed passion and hunger for that top 2 as they belted it out with songs that were chosen for them by the judges. Most of the hopefuls opted for the you are faithfull’ while others like Lesley opted for ‘how excellent is your name’ as he revived it by bringing guitar into the whole song for which the judges thought it was something fresh and what they were looking for in the competition. Unfortunately, after they Pretoria, the judges could only choose two people and the lucky people were 17 year old Ndumiso and the 27 year old Nomvula who made it through to the top 2 and will represent Pretoria in the nationals at the urban brew studios. Next week the judges are back in Johannesburg for the call back auditions as they try and find who joins the Ndumiso and Nomvula in the top 9. Shine. Sundays @ 18:00. Ch. 331 on DSTV.
