Last night saw the Durban top 20 belt it out to secure a spot in the top 2 to join the Gauteng 4. Though the judges were least impressed with Durban, talent shone to prove the judges otherwise. However, apart from singing, some of the hopefuls were only there to see the judges as they confessed on national tv how they love some of them.
Back to the auditions, hopefuls fought it out to gain a spot in the top 10. Ultimately, it was the likes of Phila, Nompumelelo, Amanda and the squeaky voiced Sindi who managed to secure a spot in the top 10. Though half of the top 10 opted for the "you are faith o lord", only few managed to personalise it and made it their own.
Nonetheless, it was the likes of Josslyn who shot themselves on the foot. From the word go, she was the judges’ favourite but messed it completely in the top 10 as she ‘bimbad’ like an amateur succumbing to nerves. That top 10 performance alone threw her off the top 2 wagon.
However, it was Nokuthula Mndaweni and Precious Mpofane who held their own and brought the house down with their performances sending them straight to top 2 to join the Gauteng 4 in the national top 9. With the addition of two girls from Durban in the top 4, remarkably so, Andries is the only male representing so far.
(Andries)
As the callback auditions round up in Cape Town next week, we are yet to see if Andries will be the only bull in the kraal. Also we are yet to see if Cape Town stepped up to the heat. However, I'm looking forward to the studio performances the week after the Cape Town callback auditions.
