Finally E! Entertainment has some real competition, thanks to the introduction of DSTV's new channel TLC.
If you're not clued up about TLC, think E! Entertainment with a mix of The Style Network. Also, you may remember the news that got tongues wagging a couple of weeks ago, about 3 year olds being forced to lose weight and wear makeup for professional modelling - all that drama takes place in a reality show on TLC.
I was pretty excited about the new channel, so off I went to the launch in Sandton and before long... I got lost. I had to stop at 3 petrol stations to get to the venue. Yeah, yeah, I know I should have used a navigator but I forgot it at home and my phone... it's a blackberry. Need I say more.
The invite stated that it was a "Red Carpet Affair" so that meant people would be dressed to the nines right? Wrong! Most of the guests stuck to their normal party
uniform attire - Black dresses.
Moving right along...
The function was well themed and it personified what the channel is all about:For the woman who loves FASHION AND SHOPPING
For the working woman who still MAINTAINS HER FABULOUSITY
For the woman who's a HOT BABY MAMA.
(Tjo, the shock I got when I saw this woman with a newborn baby, at an evening function. Turns out, it's a doll. I kid you not)
For the woman who is MARRIAGE MATERIAL. hehehe...
This theme was pure creativity.
Could other events take notes *hides*
I met a TVSA blogger, Vesa, at the do and we chatted like old buddies. What an awesome lady and she's hot too. #NoHomo. We then proceeded to do some celeb spotting.
Sonia Booth with her friend Refiloe.
I don't know why her beauty is never translated to photos, but let me set the record straight. Sonia is a hot mama.
Thobile Mncube.
Did you know that she's not an SABC newsreader anymore? I didn't. It turns out she's moved on to work for the competition - DSTV and she's doing their PR. Women on the move.
The Miss Earth ladies. The one said she's an ambassador and the other a runner up. Kanti, when did the pageant take place?
Bianca Le Grange, Keenan Harrison from The Wild and Keiron Legacy
Fana Mokoena was also there and I enjoyed our casual chat. It's amazing how much he has achieved in this industry, yet he's so humble. Can he open up a college of humility and school some of our celebs. Thank You.
Whilst on humility...
I also met Kojo Baffoe, Editor of Destiny Man Mag.
Lesley Mofokeng is such a darling. He asked me nicely not to put up a pic of him because he was "dressed like a truck driver and since you bloggers are mean you'd tear him to pieces."
So, I obliged. lol.
Thanx DSTV for yet another SUPERB function.
Tune in to TLC on DSTV channel 186.
